St. Augustine

While we were down at the beach, Mom and I took a day and drove over to St. Augustine.  She had been there at age 15 on a family vacation, and we both love history, so we decided to go over.  We had a great time.  If you go, take a trolley tour of the town.  Its so nice to be able to get on and off when you want to and not have to walk the entire town!  And if you stop for lunch, go to Casa Maya, on Hypolita Street.  It has fantastic vegetarian meals (Mom had sweet potato pancakes and I had black bean soup) and amazing smoothies.  The owners are a very sweet couple as well.  It was a great day to spend with my Mom.  Note: she is the photographer for the hibiscus picture below.

These last two pictures are of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, founded Sept 8, 1565.  I think Mom took this picture as well.

For love of the beach

I just got back from a much appreciated vacation in Florida with my dear family.  My parents, who live in Zim, were back for the holidays, and we headed south for the warmth.  It was a wonderful way to start the New Year!  And as a result, here are a few beach pictures with more to come.
